Taking a small sample from your body – blood, urine, stool, tissue, or saliva, etc. – is important so Burbank Urgent Care can give you the right diagnosis and the right treatment.
Burbank Urgent Care is equipped with the right staff, tools, and labs to do diagnostic tests. Here are the benefits to you and our team if the provider believes you need to get tested:
• We’ll understand if your condition is in the expected range.
• We’ll know if a certain substance is present or absent in your body.
• We’ll be able to check for a mutation in a gene or an infectious organism.
• We’ll start treatment even before the symptoms present.
While many lab results are precise and reliable indicators of a patient’s health, others will provide general feedback to give the providers clues to the possible health issues. All lab test results must be interpreted within the context of the patient’s overall health and are used along with other exams.
1. Make an online reservation or walk into Burbank Urgent Care.
2. During the office visit, the provider – either the physician or physician assistant – will first evaluate your health and then tell you if diagnostic testing is medically needed and what type of test is the most appropriate. The provider will then order the test(s) and our team will take the sample(s) from you.
3. Once the sample has been processed by either the Burbank Urgent Care team or by our contracted diagnostic lab, then the Burbank Urgent Care provider will share the lab results with you either in person or by phone.
Please understand that the results for some tests can be done within 15 minutes (same day you see the provider) while other tests may take a few days.

You might hear the Rapid Covid Test also be called the Rapid Antigen Test or the Antigen Test.
The benefit of getting the Rapid Covid Test is you get results back the same day (typically in 15 minutes). The drawback is that this Rapid Antigen Test is not as accurate the Covid PCR Test.
The Rapid Covid Test checks for protein fragments specific to Covid-19.
The PCR Test is also called a Polymerase Chain Reaction Test or Molecular Test.
Yes. We do the Covid PCR Test at Burbank Urgent Care. Specifically, we will use a nasal swab to collect a sample of your nasal secretions from the back of your nose and then we will send the collected sample to a certified lab. There, the lab technician will check the sample for viral genetic material for COVID-19. We will call you with the results within 3 to 5 days. If the genetic molecules are found, then the test result is positive. If not, then the test is negative.
The benefit of getting the PCR Test is you get the most accurate test for an active Covid-19 infection. The drawback is that you need to wait 3 to 5 days to get the results.
